What plant medicines do you work with?

Is participation legal?

We operate every program in full compliance with the laws of the country where it takes place. The medicines and practices offered differ between locations precisely because of these legal frameworks, and we never work outside them.

Are the ceremonies safe?

Safety is the foundation of our work. Every participant completes a medical questionnaire and an individual evaluation interview before joining, ceremonies are guided by experienced facilitators and therapists, and we work in small groups so each person is closely accompanied throughout.

Do I need to follow a special diet before a retreat?

Yes. Preparation includes a traditional diet in the two to four weeks before the retreat, following the Cofán lineage. We provide clear guidance so you know exactly what to follow and why it matters for your experience.

Who should not participate?

Certain conditions are not compatible with this work, including some cardiovascular conditions and the current use of medications that interact with these medicines, such as certain antidepressants, antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. The evaluation interview exists to assess this together, and participants are responsible for disclosing relevant medical and psychological history.

Can I take part if I'm on antidepressants or other medication?

Accepted Answer

Some medications, particularly antidepressants, antipsychotics and mood stabilizers, can interact dangerously with plant medicines. This is one of the key things we review in your evaluation. Never stop or change medication on your own — we ask you to consult your prescribing doctor, and we assess suitability case by case.

What does a ceremony involve?

Each retreat includes two to three guided ceremonies led by trained facilitators, held in a safe and supported setting. The format is consistent across our locations; only the available medicines differ. Ceremonies are woven together with preparation and integration so the experience has lasting meaning.

How do you prepare me for the experience?

Preparation begins two to four weeks ahead and includes the traditional diet, practical guidance, and setting your intentions. This groundwork shapes the quality and safety of the experience, which is why we treat it as an essential part of the journey rather than an optional extra.

What happens after the ceremonies — how does integration work?

Integration is where insights become lasting change. The process continues after the retreat ends, and we offer integration support and encourage ongoing practices so what you experience translates into your daily life over time.

Personal transformation is a lifelong process, not a single event. A retreat can open powerful doors to self-discovery and growth, but the deeper work continues afterward and depends on your own continued effort and integration.

Are the facilitators trained?

Our facilitators are trained through immersion in the Colombian jungle within the Cofán lineage, and bring backgrounds in therapeutic or psychotherapeutic care. They accompany each ceremony to hold a safe and supported space.

Is this a medical or therapeutic treatment?

No. Holistika Center does not provide medical, psychological or psychiatric services. Our programs are complementary to conventional care, not a replacement for it, and we encourage you to consult your own healthcare providers about any specific concerns.
